Now, this doesn't mean income is rising at the same speed for everyone. You might remember a report last year which said the world's richest 62 individuals owned as much as the poorest 50% of people in the whole world.
부의 쏠림 점점 심해진다..수퍼리치 8명이 세계 인구 절반의 재산 보유

세계에서 가장 부자 8명이 가지고 있는 재산이 세계 인구 절반이 가진 재산과 맞먹는다는 조사 결과가 나왔다. 부익부 빈익빈 심화로 인한 사회적 갈등도 증폭될 전망이다.
국제구호단체 옥스팜이 공개한 보고서에 따르면 부를 기준으로 순위를 매겼을 때 상위 8명의 재산은 하위 50%, 즉 인구 36억명이 가진 재산과 같았다.
이 세계 최고 부자 8명에는 빌 게이츠 MS 설립자, 마크 주커버그 페이스북 설립자, 워렌 버핏, 제프 베조스 아마존 설립자, 래리 엘리슨 오라클 CEO, 마이클 블룸버그 블룸버그 창업자 등 미국인 6명과 멕시코의 카를로스 슬림 텔맥스텔레콤 회장, 스페인의 아만시오 오르테가 인디텍스 그룹 회장이 포함됐다.
옥스팜은 부자와 빈곤층의 간극이 점점 넓어지면서 전 세계적으로 주류 정치에 대한 불만도 점점 고조되고 있다고 지적했다.
옥스팜은 보고서에서 “브렉시트에서 도널드 트럼프의 미국 대선 승리에 이르기까지 민족주의 성향이 두드러지고 있고 주류 정치에 대한 환멸도 확산되고 있다. 이 같은 선거 결과는 부유한 국가에서 점점 더 많은 이들이 현 상태를 더 이상 지켜볼 수 없다는 신호로 풀이된다”고 전했다.
이렇듯 부의 쏠림이 심각해지고 있는 가운데 17일부터 20일(현지시간) 스위스 다보스에서 진행되는 세계경제포럼은 이 문제를 다룰 예정이다.
이번 매년 시대적 고민을 화두로 던졌던 다보스 포럼은 올해에는 '소통과 책임의 리더십(Responsive and responsible leadership)'을 주제로 ’세계화에 대한 반발로 인한 선거의 반전 결과와 포퓰리즘의 부상’에 어떻게 대응해 나갈지를 토론한다.
옥스팜은 부익부 빈익빈의 해결을 위한 방법으로 부유한 개인과 기업에 대한 세금 인상과 함께 법인세 인하 경쟁의 종식을 제안했다. 아울러 정경 유착과 기업들의 로비 관행을 지적하면서 이해 상충 문제를 해결할 강력한 규제 마련을 촉구했다.

A yacht – a luxury boat used for pleasure. The ultimate status symbol – that is, an item which allows you to show off your wealth and position in society.
If you have an exclusive wine collection or art collection or even the purchase of a business jet – these are investable assets – something that you can retain value on or accrue value on. A business jet, a private jet, can cut costs – and make businesses more convenient by running faster, more comfortably than commercial airlines. So these purchases, they make good, sound business sense. Whereas a superyacht is essentially a black hole.
super rich들은 여러방면으로 그들의 부를 소비하고 있습니다. 고가의 예술품이나 다른 물품들, 또는 개인 전용 제트기 등을 구입하기도 합니다. 그러나 이러한 경우는 투자 가능한 자산이므로 가치를 존중하거나 가치를 창출 할 수 있습니다. 상업용 제트기의 구입은 일반 항공기보다 더 빠르고 편안하게 비즈니스를 운영 할 수있게 해 주기 때문에 이것을 토대로 비지니스 감각을 발휘합니다.
그렇지만 superyacht는 본질적으로 블랙홀입니다. 즉 소****을 위한 돈을 빨아드리는 블랙홀인 것입니다.

The size of your yacht shows your place in the pecking order.
If you're higher up in the yachting pecking order, you get the best place in the harbour. Which is very important to yacht owners, apparently.
You could actually say that yachts are the ultimate form of conspicuous consumption.
