J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, plans to build a lodge in her garden in Edinburgh. The lodge will look like the stone hut of Hagrid. Hagrid is a giant school groundskeeper from the Harry Potter novels.
The architectural drawings of the lodge show that it will have a conical roof, stone steps and a chimney. It is just like Hagrid¡¯s home.
In 2009, Rowling bought a large mansion with 31 rooms for $4 million. She also bought the property next door for $1.6 million for her privacy.
The lodge is part of the author¡¯s landscaping makeover plan. The makeover plan includes a rectangular pond, geometric pathways and sculptures.
A very old sundial will be put at one end of the garden. The sundial was made in 1732.
An old whipping stone will be put at a corner of the garden. The whipping stone came from the 16th or 17th century. It was originally used to punish thieves.
Reporters wonder what she will use it for.
