Graduation Gifts

Many students graduate from their schools in February. There are many students who receive gifts from their parents or friends. Let¡¯s take a look at a talk here and think about this.

Eun-mi: Wow! Your new digital camera looks nice, Hye-won.

Hye-won: Thank you, Eun-mi. My father bought it for me as a graduation gift.

Jung-hee: But do we really need graduation gifts? I don¡¯t think graduation is something that we need to have parties or receive gifts for. It is just a part of our school days.

Hye-won: I don¡¯t really think so. Graduation means a lot for me. Just like other special days, it is nice to celebrate it with presents.

Jung-hee: But many people are spending much money buying expensive things like computers, video games, MP3 players, and smartphones. Sometimes, it is a waste of money. There are also many friends of us who can¡¯t get such things as gifts.

Min-ji: You have a point. But books, bags, and writing instruments can be nice items to give for graduation. Most of them are not that expensive and students need those things.

Hye-won: Min-ji is right. They can also be meaningful. My father still keeps his fountain pen that his teacher gave him when he finished high school. He says it is the most meaningful gift he has ever received in his life.

Eun-mi: All right, girls. Let¡¯s stop here. I need to leave now. Let¡¯s go take some pictures with your camera this weekend, Hye-won.
