Osama bin Laden Killed
Osama bin Laden was killed by the U.S. forces, President Obama announced.

¡±It is the most significant achievement in the effort to defeat al Qaeda,¡± the president said.

¡±Justice has been done,¡± Obama added.

Bin Laden was hiding at his house in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The U.S. forces were monitoring the house and waited for the right time. The president authorized a targeted operation when the time was right.

A small team of American soldiers carried out the operation. After a firefight, they killed bin Laden and took custody of his body.

Former President George W. Bush said that Obama called him to inform him of bin Laden¡¯s death. He called the operation ¡°a momentous achievement that marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001.¡±

Outside the White House, a crowd of about 200 people gathered with American flags. They were singing the Star Spangled Banner and chanting ¡°USA USA.¡±
