This year celebrates the 10th anniversary since the opening of Incheon International Airport. Here¡¯s a story about Incheon International Airport.

After the Seoul Olympics in 1988, international air traffic to Korea increased dramatically. Gimpo International Airport could not keep up with the increase in air traffic. Therefore, a new airport was needed and the construction began in November 1992. The airport is located about 70 km west of Seoul.

Incheon International Airport officially opened on March 29, 2001. After its opening, Gimpo Airport in Seoul has been transformed into a domestic airport with a few international flights.

Expansion of the airport is still going on to handle more flights and cargo. The whole construction is scheduled to be completed in 2020.

As the main airport in Korea, over 70 airlines are serving Incheon International Airport. It is now one of the largest and busiest airports in the world.

Already one of the best airports in the world with numerous awards, Incheon International Airport hopes to continue to emerge as a world class airport.
