Book Description
Why did Miss Twiggley live in a tree? Why did she send her dog, Puss, out to do the shopping? Why did she always run away and hide when people came to visit? And it was rumored that Miss Twiggley had even more peculiar habits...

Old Miss Twiggley
Was friendly with bears.
"They shed on the sofa," she said,
"But who cares?"

And was it true, as the mayor's wife had heard, that she actually slept in her hat? "Simply disgraceful!" they said. But when a hurricane hits the town and the water rises, everyone is grateful to Miss Twiggley and her tree. Even better, Miss Twiggley herself learns a very important lesson, with a warm and happy ending.

I love this book!!, June 19, 2003

Miss Twiggley's Tree is a great ole time classic that both my mother and I have been able to share. This book has always been at my grandma's house and just this week i found it and was able to share it with some of my youngest cousins who fell in love with it also. My Grandma read it to my mom when it was first published, and now, i have been given it to be able to some day read it to my children.. If you are looking for a book to read to your children that they will be able to share with everyone they know, i strongly suggest this one.

This was my very favorite book as a child (in the late 60s/early 70s). I absolutely loved the pictures and the message of the book. The respect for animals and people, regardless of their differences, made an impact on me that is evident in my outlook on life today. When my husband pulled Miss Twiggley's Tree from the bookshelf of my childhood books I had (thankfully) saved to read to our two year old son, I was pleased. I was even more moved when both of them fell in love with the book themselves. When my son asks if we can read Miss Twiggley's Tree in his wonderful voice, my heart melts. I was thrilled to see it was still available. Thank you to Dorothea Warren Fox for a truly timeless story. It brings back wonderful memories and fosters hope for the future.

As with everyone else, this was my favorite book growing up. My parents read it to me so much that I memorized it before I could read. My grandma came to visit and I "read" it to her. She thought I was real smart!

It is nice now to be able to read it to my son. I don't have to read the words and can let him get the best look at the book and pictures because I know the story by heart and know when to turn the page.

Since this is an older book, it is not as glossy as the newer children's books coming out, but I think it is a great story.

This is the best children's book ever written! I read it so many times as a child I still have it memorized. Technically it was my older brother's book and I've been trying to find a copy for years. .... It's well written and illustrated and has a wonderful moral: it's okay to be different! Every child should have a copy.

Another great kids book, December 28, 2002

I can't count the number of times my sister and begged my mother to read this to us. Very enjoyable reading. Rhyming verses keep hold of the listeners and the pictures have many "discoveries" and discussion points.

Yet another book with a message about diversity, self worth and overcoming challenges. Glad it's back in print and it is another that I have passed down to the younger generation in my family.
