쏘피의 올라간머리, 분노에 이글거리는 파란 눈 ,벌름거리는 코, 굳게다문 입술등의 빨강색의 책표지에서 주는 강렬함이 저의 마음을 사로잡았습니다.
일러스트레이션의 강렬함,칼러풀함이 보는사람으로 하여금 글의내용을 쉽고 강렬하게 받아 들일 수 있도록 한 점이 마음에 들었습니다.
이책의 일러스트레이션이 반고호,마티스.고갱의 스타일을 혼합시켜 보다 강렬하고 생생하고 밝게 표현된 것이라 하네요.
이작품에서 주목할 것은 쏘피의 마음의 변화를 원색으로 표현한 점입니다.
노랑,주황,강렬한 빨강색으로 분노의 감정을 표현했다가, 연보라색을 거쳐 흰색,초록 파랑색으로 차분하게 진정되는 마음을 표현하고 있습니다.
주황색은 처음엔 빨강과 함께 분노의 색에서 후반부엔 평화스러운 색으로 표현됩니다.
이책은 제에게 많은 생각을 하게 해 주었습니다.
아이일지라도 감정은 있다는것.
화가 났을 때 감정을 스스로 컨트롤 하는법. 아이들이 화났을 때 부모로서 즉각적인 반응으로 화를내고 잘못을 따지기 보다는 때론 조용히 기다려줄 줄도 아는 지혜가 필요하다는 것을...
전 사실 이성적이기 보다 굉장히 감정적이거든요.화를 누그러뜨릴 시간을 안주고 넌 왜그러냐는 식으로 도히려 성질을 내곤 했답니다.
이러면 반감만 생긴다는걸 알면서도요.
이책을 통해 제자신을 반성해보는 계기가 되었습니다.
어쨌든 굉장히 추천하고픈 책입니다.
내용을보면 대략 이렇습니다.
쏘피는 고릴라를 갖고 놀고있었는데.언니가 와서 자신의 차례라고 고릴라를 빼앗아 갔습니다.엄마는 소피언니 차례라고 말해 소피의 화를 자극합니다.
서로 갖겠다고 고릴라를 잡아 당기는 과정에서 소피는 트럭에 걸려 트럭위로 엎어지고 맙니다.
이에 소피는 굉장히 화가 납니다.발을 구르고,소리를 지르고,온세상을 다부셔버리고 싶다고 발광을 합니다.쏘피의 커다란 빨간 그림자는 세상을 부셔버리려 하고 있고,입에서는새빨간 고함이 터져나오고, 집안에 있는 것들은 불길에 다 날라가 버립니다.쏘피의 화는 주체할 수 없는 활화산 같습니다.
결국 소피는 문을 쾅 닫고 숲속으로 달립니다.지칠때까지 달리다가 울다가 소피는 어느새 주변의 나무,덤불,새소리에 시선을 돌립니다. 그리고 커다란 밤나무에 올라가 산들 바람을 느끼고 넓고 잔잔한 바다를 바라보며 마음의 평화를 찾습니다.
자연의 위로를 받은 소피는 나무에서 내려와 이글거리던 분노의 모습과는 달리 언제그랬냐는듯이 입가에 미소를 머금고 집으로 돌아옵니다.
소피의 식구들은 소피를 반가히 맞아 줍니다. 쏘피는 집의 아늑함을 느끼며 가족과 퍼즐을 맞추고, 그림을 그립니다.-집,가족,밤나무,배 그림을 그립니다.
가족들은 평화롭게 각자의 일을 합니다.
