Story House 영어동화책 서점의 Intro 단계 6개월차~9개월차 책의 본문 내용 소개.
1개월~5개월차 책은 아래 4번 글을 참조하세요.
(***) 는 우리 아이 반응. 5개 만점.
5점이란 우리 아이가 자꾸자꾸 반복해서 읽어달라고 하고, 한달 지나니까 내용을 혼자
줄줄 외울 정도가 된 것을 말합니다.
영어 동화책을 워낙 좋아하지만 모든 책을 다 이렇게 좋아하는 건 아닙니다.
Story House Intro 6개월차---------------------------------
1. What do you say? (*****)
손바닥만한 입체 보드북.
세서미 주인공이 등장하고 각 상황에 맞는 인사말을 공부합니다.
책장을 열면 입체적인 물건이 튀어나옵니다.
What do you say to the doctor ? "Ahhhhh!"
What do you say at a birthday party ? "Happy Birthday!"
What do you say when a monster steps on your toe ? "Ouch!"
What do you say when you spill your milk ? " Ooooops! Sorry."
What do you say when you scare a monster ? " Boo!"
What do you say when you surprised ? "Eek!"
2. Inside Outside Upside down. (*****)
Berenstain Bears는 리빙북 CD중 In the dark 을 통해 이미 친숙해진 주인공.
각종 전치사를 배울 수 있는 내용.
각 전치사에 맞는 내용이 그림으로 표시되기 때문에 해석이 필요 없음.
Tape을 들어보니 랩처럼 낭독하더군요.

빈 우리에 동물들이 하나씩 모여들어 같이 살게 된다는 예쁜 내용.
여러 동물들이 나오고, 구멍이 뚫려 있어서 뒷그림이 보입니다.
구멍과 뒷그림이 절묘하게 일치하도록 만들어져 있어요.
Once upon a time, there was an empty little barn.
One bright summer day, a cow came by.
"What a nice place to live," said the cow. So she stayed.
One crisp fall day, a family of chickens came by.
"What a safe place to live," said the hen.
"Then why not stay?" asked the cow. So they did.

4. Bedtime for bunnies (****)
개구장이 토끼들이 잠잘 시간에 안자려고 여기저기 숨는데,
엄마가 한마리씩 찾아냅니다.
각 페이지에 뚜껑이 달려 있어서 젖히면 토끼가 숨어있어요.
One night the Funnybunny children were playing all over the house.
They were having so much fun.
Then their mother called, "Bedtime!"
And they all disappeared.
Mrs. Funnybunny looked everywhere for her bunnies.

역시 세서미 주인공들이고 음식 이름 말하기입니다.
손바닥만한 입체 보드북입니다.
What do you eat, Cookie Monster? "Cooooookies! And milk, please."
What do you eat, Betty Lou? "A juicy orange."
What do you eat, Snuffy? "Spaghetti, Would you like some?"

2. The foot book (*****)
Dr. Seuss 주인공들 나오는 반대말 책.
전에 받은 Dr. Seuss 책들처럼 문장이 아니고 시(poem)입니다.
그래서 해석해주기도 어렵고 좀 그런데 아이는 좋아하네요.

3. Moo, Moo, Peekaboo! (***)
구멍뚫린 책입니다. 이런 책은 뒷장 그림맞추기에만 열중하고 내용에는 별 관심이 없어요.
Moo, moo! Peekaboo, we see you, cow!
Oink, oink! What else can we see? (구멍을 통해 뒷장의 돼지가 보임)
We see a sow and her piglets, hungry as can be.
Neigh, neigh! What do we say is peering 'round that door?
We see a mare and a colt are grazing on sweet, tender clover.

4. Catch the ball (*****)
실에 달린 공이 페이지 사이를 통과해서 책 끝까지 왔다갔다 합니다.
이런 책은 역시 아이가 갖고 놀기는 좋아하는데 책 본문에는 관심없어요.
다른 책은 대부분 Random House 책인데 이 책은 Scholastic 책이네요.
"Catch the call!" the SEAL called.
"Oh, I can't," said the ELEPHANT.
"Throw it here," said the DEER.
"Where? Where?" asked the BEAR.

1. Knock, Knock! Who's There? (*****)
매달 한권씩 있는 손바닥만한 세서미 주인공 책입니다.
역시 뚜껑이 달려 있어서 열면 주인공이 숨어있습니다.
Knock, Knock! Who's there? (공중전화부스를 열자) Super Grover!
Tap, tap! Who's there? (마술사가 보자기를 열자) Grover Cottontail!
Knock, Knock! Who's there? (유령의집 문을 열자) Boo! Boohoo!

2. Kiss Hello, Kiss Good-bye (***)
아서 책입니다. 아서와 DW 인형이 들어있어서 여기저기에 꽂을 수 있게 되어있어요.
식탁에 앉히거나, 자동차에 태우는 등.
인형 움직이느라 시간이 많이 걸려서 본문 내용에는 집중을 못해요.
내용은 키스를 너무 남발하는 것 같아서 우리 정서에 좀 안맞는 것 같아요.
We're off to work. Have fun at day care. (DW를 유아원에 맡기면서)
Before you go.... Kiss good-bye.
D.W., we're back. Time to go home.

3. My potty and I (*****)
Old bear 이후로 우리 아이가 가장 좋아하는 책입니다.
내용은 Berenstain Bear가 화장실 훈련을 하는 내용.
아이들이 좋아한만한 소재잖아요?
My potty and I get along.
We know where numbers one and two belong.
Sometimes things don't go as planned.
But that's okay--- Mom and Dad understand.
Sometimes I'm busy and I forget.
Then, of course, I end up wet.
4. Grover's Adventure Under the Sea (-)
세사미 주인공 나오는 커다란 구멍뚫린 보드북입니다.
물안경 쓴 그루버 모습이 무섭다는 말도 안되는 이유로 우리 아이는 이 책을
아주 싫어합니다. 책 내용은 아주 쉽고 예뻐요.
Hello, Mr. Sea Horse!
I, Grover the Undersea Explorer, am looking for the treasure under the sea.
Maybe Mr. Octopus can point the way.
Eight different directions? Oh, my goodness!

Intro 9개월차--------------------------------------
1. Little David and the Giant (*****)
성경의 다윗과 골리앗 이야기입니다. 손바닥만한 뚜껑달린 보드북입니다.
이렇게 재미있는 성경이야기가 있다니...
Little David was a shepherd.
He had twelve sheep.
Where is number twelve? (덤불 뚜껑을 여니) Baaaaa!
What's that lurking in the grass? Oh, no!
(잔디밭 뚜껑을 열어보니) A lion!
David took his slingshot... and stopped that lion!

2. Whos's in my Gingerbread house ? (***)
온갖 명작동화 주인공들이 다 나오는데, 원작에 충실해도 아이가 기억할까말까인데
다 각색되어 있으니 별 재미를 못느껴요.
다만 빵, 사탕, 초콜렛으로 지은 집이라는 것에만 관심을 갖더군요.
명작동화 주인공을 다 아는 아이라면 재미있게 볼 거예요.
"Gingerbread tastes very good!" So says Little Red (뚜껑을 열자) Riding Hood.
빨간모자가 나왔으니 늑대가 나와야죠. (이걸 알고 보면 재미있다는 뜻이예요)
Spicy sweet and golden brown. Try hard not to Wolf it down!
Chocolate shoes and candy socks were brought by sleepy Goldilocks.
(곰세마리 집에 들어갔던 금발머리 여자애 이름, 다음엔 곰세마리가 나와야죠)
And creeping up the cookie stairs close behind are the Three Bears.

3. Rock-a-Bye Babies. (****)
세사미 주인공들이 다 아기로 변했어요. 커다란 보드북입니다.
아주 앙증맞은 그림입니다. 입체 아님.
This little baby went to market.
This little baby stayed home.
This little baby had apple sauce.
This little baby had fun.

4. Big Bird at Bat (****)
세서미 주인공인 Big bird 타자가 친 공이 책 사이 구멍을 통과하며 온 마을을 지나가고,
수비수인 Cookie Monster에게 잡힌다는 내용.
그림이 역동적이고 재미있습니다.
Crack! went Big Bird's baseball bat.
He hit that baseball hard.
Ernie leaped to catch it, but it sailed out of the yard.
Herry was making pizza.
The baseball went right through it---
