이전에 제가 이책을 소개한 적이 있는데 이번엔 아이와 함께 읽으며 할 수 있는 storytelling을 만들어 보았습니다. 사실 책에 있는 말만 하고 넘어가자니 넘 심심한 것 같아서요.
엄마 욕심이 다 마찬가지겠지만 영어동화를 읽어 주면서 글이 넘 짧으면 그것만 읽어 주기엔 좀 허전하고 뭔가 영어 한두마디라도 해주고 싶은게 아닐까해서 말이죠. 이 책에 나오는 말들은 간단하지만 일상생활에서 늘 아이들에게 사용할 수 있는 문장이라 엄마가 외워두었다가 같은 상황에서 아이에게 써먹으면 좋겠죠.
책을 읽으며 왜 그렇게 해서는 안되는지와 데이빗의 행동을 통해 아이들 자신의 모습에 대해서도 얘기해 보면 야단만치기보단 더 효과적인 방법이 아닐까 생각되네요. 그리고 엄마가 야단을 치더라도 얼마나 아이를 사랑하고 있는가를 상기시켜 주세요. 간단하지만 몇자 만들어 봤으니 재미있게 봐주세요. 먼저 책 표지를 보면 개구쟁이 데이빗이 어항을 위험한 포즈로 만지고 있어요.

A goldfish lives in a fish bowl. 금붕어는 어항에서 산단다.
A goldfish doesn't live in the air. 공기 중에서는 살 수가 없어요.
It is going to fall down. David, Be careful! 어항이 넘어질 것같아. 데이빗 조심해!
Don't touch the fish bowl. 어항은 만지면 안돼요.
엄마의 얼굴은 보이지 않지만 화가 났다는 걸 알 수 있겠죠.
Who is she? She is David's mom. I think she is angly. David's mom always said..... No, David! What is he doing?
Oh, no! He is scribbling on the wall. 데이빗이 벽에 낙서를 하고 있구나.
David! No scribbling on the walls! 데이빗! 벽에 낙서하면 안돼!
Mom said, "Who took the cookies from the cookie jar?" 누가 쿠키병에서 쿠키를 꺼내 먹었어?
I suppose that david took the cookies from the cookie jar. 엄마 생각엔 데이빗이 한 것 같구나.
He might fall down. That was close you almost got hurt not do that anymore, Ok?
"No, David, no!" The floor is messy with footprints. 바닥이 발자국으로 더러워 졌구나.
He used to play on the sands. 모래놀이를 한 모양이야.
Mom is going to clear the floor. 엄마가 바닥 청소를 하셔야겠구나.
He is dirty. He must take a bath. 데이빗이 더럽지. 목욕을 해야겠어.
It's bath time. "No! No! No! David! Turn off the water." 물을 잠궈야지.
What does he doing? He splashs in the water. Splash, Splash. He playes with his rubber ducky and rubber shark....
"Come bake here, David!" called his mom.
"Did you forget to put something on?" cried mom.
Oh, No! He forgot to put on his clothes. 오 저런! 데이빗이 옷 입는걸 잊어버렸구나.
"David! Let's put on your clothes."
It's noisy. Be quiet! It's time for runch. 점심시간이야.
It looks good. 맛있겠다.
Dig in! 먹어.
"Don't play with your food!" 음식으로 장난치면 안돼!
Don't move.
"That's enough, David!"
Don't talk with your mouth full. 입에 음식을 가득 넣고 말하면 안돼.
Take your time eating. Did you enjoy it?
He has watched TV. Mom said, "You shouldn't watch too much Television."
Turn it off and go to sleep.
He is jumping on the bed. "Settle down!"
"Stop that this instant!"
Stand back! David!
Don't sit too close to the TV.
Okay, let's turn it off.
"Put your toys away."네 장난감을 치워야지. (집에서 제일 많이 쓰는 표현이 아닐까 싶네요)
Do you know what are there? There are a baseball, bat and mask.
He is playing baseball. "Not in the house, David!"
I said no, David! The vase has been broken.
Hurry and say you're sorry.
That's right. That's a good boy.
"Davey, come here." I'll give you a hug.
Don't do that again. Okay? Yes, David... I love you!
