Albert Schweitzer
Albert Schweitzer did many great jobs. He was a pastor. He was a philosopher. He was also a very famous organist. And he was a doctor.
Schweitzer was born in France on January 14, 1875. Schweitzer decided to go to Africa as a doctor. He wanted to help poor and sick Africans.
He entered a medical school when he was 30. In 1913, he founded his hospital at Lambarene in Gabon, Africa. He built seventy hospitals in Africa.
In 1952, he received the Nobel Peace Prize. He started a hospital for lepers with the prize money. He spent most of his life in Africa.
