환경오염으로 인해 살 곳을 잃어가는 동물들에 대한 이야기를 아이들의 눈높이에 맞춰 재밌게 지어낸 작가의 솜씨가 돋보이는 것 같아요.
기차에서 내리라는 친구들의 말을 듣고 풀이 죽어 어깨가 축 늘어져서는 힘없이 말하는 동물들의 모습을 저희 아이는 무척 재밌어 하기도 하고 안되어 하기도 하면서 이 책을 좋아하더라구요.
아이랑 같이 세계지도를 이용해서 놀이를 해 보았습니다.
세계 곳곳에 동물들이 살고 있다는 얘기랑 동물들이 사는 곳이 다르다는 얘기를 해 주고 싶어서 시도를 해 보았습니다.
주인공 소년과 강아지, 동물들 그림은 복사를 해서 다시 한번 위에 덧그림을 그리고 뒤에서 그림을 그렸습니다.
기차는 freight train 의 black steam engine 만 복사를 했습니다.
그리고 세계지도에 동물들 위치를 정해서 자리배치.
(코끼리는 아프리카, 물개는 북아메리카, 두루미는 러시아, 호랑이는 아시아, 북극곰은 북극)
주인공들이 내려서 노는 부분이 많아서 따로 종이에 부직포를 붙여 공간을 만들어 지도에 붙였어요.

쓰레기는 꼭 쓰레기통에 버려야해.
We should nurse resources.
우리는 자원을 절약해야 한다.
We can save paper, water and electric.
우리는 종이, 물, 전기 등을 절약할 수 있어.
The earth is very ours.
지구는 바로 우리 것이야.
[기차만들어 놀기]
아이들 기차놀이 참 좋아하잖아요.
그래서 부직포로 기차를 만들어 아이에게 주니 친구들이 올 때마다 참 잘 가지고 노네요.
부직포에 매직이랑 크레용으로 테두리만 그려서, 자르고 고무줄로 연결해 주었습니다.

연결하고 놀았어요.
