쑥쑥몰

저희 가족은 지난 주에 3박 4일의 캠핑을 가졌습니다. 장소는 Alice Lake. 밴쿠버에서 휘슬러를 가는 중간 쯤에 위치한 작은 호수입니다. 저희는 처음 가보는 곳인데, 주변에 모르는 사람이 없을 정도로 유명한 곳이더군요. 두 달 전에 예약을 했고, 캠프 그라운드에는 자동차가 들어갈 자리, 텐트 칠 자리, 그리고 피크닉 테이블과 밴치가 있고, 캠프 파이어를 할 수 있는 곳이 있습니다. 작년에 갔던 곳은 텐트의 정문을 열면 바로 앞에 파도가 철썩 거리는 바다가 보이고, 서쪽이라 저녁노을의 장관이 숨을 막히게 하는 곳이었습니다. 밤에 아주 여러 번 기차가 요란스럽게 지나 다니는 것만 빼고는 완벽한 캠핑 장소였는데..
올해 캠핑장소는 호수가 보이지는 않지만, 다람쥐들이 쉴 새 없이 돌아다니며 먹이를 구하고, 블루제이라는 새들이, 사람들이 먹이를 주는 줄 알고는 텐트 주변을 짝을 지어 다니며 먹을 것을 달라고 앙탈을..거의 협박 수준으로 하는 곳이었습니다. 호수에서는 수영하며, 송어 치어를 재미삼아 잡고, 일광욕을 하면서...후딱 지나가 버린 하루를 이거 누가 훔쳐갔지? 하며...지구에서 천국에 사는 맛을 실컫 봤습니다.
자연 속에 푹 파묻혀서 더 겸손해지고, 더 행복해지고, 더 성숙해진 이번 여름 캠핑이었습니다. 나무들이 내 뿜는 그 향기에 취해서, 모든 삶의 시름을 깨끗이 잊어버리고, 내 축복 받은 삶을 감사히, 겸허하게 받아들일 수 있었던..참으로 소중한 시간들이었습니다.
우리가 사는 곳도 자연으로 둘러 쌓인 곳이건만, 그것 못지 않은 거대한 물질문명과도 살을 맞대고 사는지라, 세탁기, 냉장고, 식기 세척기, 텔레비전, 게임기, 컴퓨터 등을 다 떠나 자연과의 관계에만 몰입을 할 수 있었던 것이 커다란 체험이었습니다. 아이들이 자연의 품 안에서 바쁘게 놀 거리를 찾고, 스스로 연구하고 탐구하고 즐기는 모습을 보면서 참 뿌듯했습니다.
기쁨이는 미처 캠핑일기를 다 못 마쳤고(아무래도 마치기를 기대하기가 힘들 것 같습니다), 자랑이는 부지런히 기억을 더듬어서 집에 돌아오자 마자 휘익~ 써 놓았습니다. 숙제를 하듯이 썼지만, 그래도 우리의 캠핑 일정을 잘 나열했습니다.
떠나기 전, 차 안에서 체스 한 판을 벌이는 아이들
July 19th 20th 21st and 22nd, 2004
On the 19th of July, I went camping at Alice Lake. The day I went there, we stayed at the campsite because we didn’t know where to start. At lunch, when we arrived, we ate Curry rice. Then my sister and I played two games of chess-I won both of the matches! Then my sister lost her temper and stomped in the tent. I asked if she wanted to duel with Yu-gi-oh cards, but she refused. So I got bored and went inside the car to listen to the cassette player.
Then after about half an hour, my sister came out of the tent and listened to the cassette player while I was reading a Harry Potter book. 
Atfer that, all except mom went fishing because my mom had to cook. We caught nothing because the sand was too high and it was the shallow end. So we went back to the campsite and ate 불고기, a korean beef dish.
Then it was late so we went to the washroom to brush our teeth. Then we went to bed except my dad. My mom slept in the car. And we slept in the tent. The next morning, my dad and I went to see if people were renting canoes from the hosts. But when we asked, they said it was for lessons. They told us where to get the boats. So we went to the kayak and canoe store to rent a kayak. It costed over $50.00 to rent the kayak for about 5 hours. After we loaded the kayak on the car, we went to a nearby gas station to eat lunch. We ate at Burger King.
Then we went to Alice Lake to kayak. My sister and I were the first ones who rode the kayak. Then my mom and I rode the kayak. My sister and my dad, my dad and I, my sister and my mom, then my mom and my dad. At four thirty, we went to the kayak and canoe store and returned the kayak and went back to the campsite to eat dinner.
Then we started the campfire and cooked potatoes. When we ate the potatoes, the outside was burnt but the inside was delicious!! After we ate, it was late so I brushed my teeth and went to bed. The next day, my dad and I planned to go fishing at lunch so we did. we didn’t catch anything so we went to the beach and swam. 
When I snorkled, my dad and I found some baby trout. I tried catching them but they were too fast. But when my sister came, she caught them with the container!! I was amazed!! We caught about 10 fish and let go of 6 fish. So we only kept 4 fish in the dam.
When it got late, my sister and mom went back to the campsite and my dad and I fished some more. We lost 3 of them, and caught one, but it was too small so we let it go. Then we went home to eat dinner and go to bed. The next morning, we fled from the campsite and went to Alice Lake to swim.
We caught more fish and put them in the dam. In a few hours, we went to the grass to sun tan. I got really hot and tanned. My sister and I had a water fight. Then we went to a tourist attraction place and walked to the Shannon falls. After that, we went to 7 eleven and bought a slurpee. Then we went to the Superstore to develop the pictures we took. Then we went to the Larson store and borrowed some Korean videos. After that, we went to Burnaby to eat dinner. We ate at a restaurant called Ddoo Gau Bee which is a Korean restaurant. Then we came back home in Whiteley court. The end.
