Mr. and Mrs. Bunny lived in farmhouse all alone.
The house had bright red shutters and a garden of its own.
Mr. Bunny tended the plants. He weeded, dug, and sowed.
He watered all the flowerbeds.
The grass was neatly mowed.
Mrs. Bunny loved to cook and plan a special treat.
Her yellow basket was always filled with healthy food to eat.
She cooked green peas and orange carrots,
and tomatoes that were red,
"We'll have a juicy pear tonight," Mrs. Bunny said.
Mr. and Mrs. Bunny thought,
"How lovely it would be
to have a baby bunny to complete our family."
One night they heard a gentle tap.
And when they looked outside,
they waw an angel standing there.
Here shining smile was wide.
"A beautiful baby bunny will soon live here with you."
She beat her wings, then through the sky
and past the stars she flew.
The bunnies were so happy
when the baby bunny came.
With ears so long, and fur so white-
Miffy was her name.
The animals came to greet her.
The rooster, the hen, the cow,
and even the chicks had heard the news
that a baby lived there now.
"She isn't as pretty as my calf,"
the cow said with a lick.
But the rooster and the hen cried,
"She's as cute as a newborn chick!"
The little chicks asked,"Mrs. Bunny,
Can Miffy come out and play?"
Said Mrs. Bunny ,"She looks very tired.
Perhaps another day."
So the farm animals tiptoed quietly,
without even a peep.
The shutters closed, the house was quiet,
and Miffy went to sleep.
