Hey everyone! This is Dong-Ha, and I hope you guys are doing well are having fun studying English. This week was Thanksgiving in America which is a well known holiday around the world. This holiday was started when the Pilgrims and the Native-Americans came together to celebrate and give thanks for the year. The Pilgrims were especially thankful because when they first came to America they had a hard time. But thanks to their Native-American friends, they were able to survive hunger, the winter, and wild animals. So Thanksgiving is a holiday of thanks, which is very similar to Chuseok.

The book this week is The Story of Heidi, this is a well known novel about Swedish girl named Heidi and her story as she live with her grandfather. Heidi is a well known character around the world and has even inspired movie adaptions of the book. This book especially shows the difference between life in the country and life in the city. Most Koreans live in the city, and maybe you do too. But haven¡¯t you wanted to go out in the country to escape the business of the city? Heidi finds it to be difficult to adjust to life in the city. Why do you think that is?

Anyway, have fun reading this great book, and the homework instructions are still the same.
     1. The first step is to read The Story of Heidi. Try to read it at least two times, once out

         loud and once in your head.
     2. Next, fill out the worksheet we posted. The worksheet has five parts. There is a

         vocabulary, multiple choice, simple question, short answer, and a creativity section.

         Make sure to go back to the book when finding some of the answers. The pictures

         may help you remember what happened.
     3. Take a picture of your worksheet and upload it.
This week, even though it isn¡¯t Thanksgiving in Korea, try to think about all the things you are thankful for. I know I am thankful for my family, a roof over my head, and 3 meals a day. See you next week!
