작년에 제가 아마존에서 주문한 책인데 책장에 그대로 꽂혀있다가 어제 눈에 띄어 꺼내어 아들에게 읽어 주었습니다. 역시 아들은 딴청만 피우고 저 좋아하는 메이지만 들고 이리 저리 다녔답니다. 그래 넌 하고 싶은 거 해라, 난 읽을 테니.. 메이지가 그리도 좋은가 T.T .. 다른책도 좀 읽자.. Maisy's ABC 우리 아이는 엄청 좋아해요. 예전에는 Maisy at the farm을 좋아하더니 이제는 ABC가 더 좋은가 보네요. 특히 Gg의 grasshopper부분! 풀속에 메뚜기가 숨어있다가 나오는 모습이 너무 신기한가 보네요 ^^
Read To Your Bunny(Rosemary Wells, Scholastic)라는 책을 소개하고 싶습니다. 책이라기 보다는 무슨 짧은 독서 계몽서 같아요^^ Read To Your Bunny is an invitaion to the world of reading... 이라고 뒷 커버에 적혀있네요. 본문의 글이 짧아서 어떻게 할까 하다가 다 적어봅니다.
책머리 글입니다.
Reading together twenty minutes a day is the most important gift you can give your child.
본문입니다(글자가 한 면에 번갈아 가며 엄마와 아빠가 아기 bunny에게 책을 읽어주는 그림이 다른 면에 있습니다).
Read to your bunny often, (정원 의자에 앉아 책 읽어주는 그림)
It's twenty minutes of fun. (경비행기를 타면서 책 읽어주는 그림)
It's twenty minutes of moonlight,(달빛아래서 책 읽어주는 그림)
And tweny minutes of sun. (해변 파라솔아래서 책 읽어주는 그림)

이것으로 책의 본문은 끝이 나구요, 다음 장에 저자의 다음과 같은 글이 있습니다. 이부분을 함께 share하고 싶어요.
All of us love our children more than anything in the world. In their first years we feed them so they grow. We bring them to the doctore so they are healthy. We strap them in car seats so they are safe.
But the most important thing in the first years of life is the growth of the mind and spirit. This is when a child learns to love and trust, to speak and listen.
After a child turns two years old, these things are very difficult to learn or teach ever again. Trusting, singing, laughing, and language are the most important things in a young child's life.
And so they must come first for mothers and fathers, too.
Because we can never have those years over again.
Every day, make a quiet, restful place for twenty minutes. Put your child in your lap and read a book aloud. In the pages of the book you will find a tiny vacation of privacy and intense love. It costs nothing but twenty minutes and a library card.
Reading to your little one is just like putting gold coins in the bank. It will pay you back tenfold. Your daughter will learn, and imaine, and be strong in herself. Your son will thrive, and give your love back forever.
