Living in 21st century, many people want to live in rural areas even though they are not uncomfortable. It is said ¡°people came from the nature and go to the nature.¡± That¡¯s why we are looking for the place where we were born?

Thousands of years ago, human beings lived in dark, dank caves. Today, people are living in developed cities. But many people want to live in a countryside not live in a big city. Why are people moving back into caves? Will you be living in a cave someday?

A cave may not be everyone¡¯s idea of a dream home, but it can offer an alternative, or choice, to other types of housing. Cave homes can also help solve some of today¡¯s biggest problems.

For example, cave dwellers can cut their fuel bills by as much as 75 percent. That¡¯s because temperatures in subterranean areas change more slowly than temperatures in above-ground places.

Therefore, underground homes stay cool during the summer and warm during the winter.

Less noise and more space are two other reasons for building down, rather than up. The ground cover keeps the homes quiet. Also, subterranean homes take up less land. One family¡¯s roof can be below another family¡¯s backyard.

That leaves more space for trees, grass, and other vegetation, and more room for parks and playgrounds.

Cave homes aren¡¯t all built below ground level. Many are built into hills. You may not even detect them because they blend in so well with the natural slope of the land. Others have been built on level land and then covered with a hill of earth. Most cave homes are made of concrete with windows opening above the ground. The windows bring in natural light. Fans bring in and circulate fresh air throughout the house.

Is building underground a new idea? Not really. Subterranean factories are standard in Sweden.

In Japan, it is also a regular practice to build shopping areas below ground. In addition, a huge business center is being developed underground in Kansas City, Kansas.
