A teenager climbed every 103 floors of a building.
Michael, 14, who was born without legs, climbed the 2,109 steps leading to the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower in Chicago. He was one of about 2,500 climbers who participated in a campaign. It was to raise funds for The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
McCarthy has received care from the institute for about 10 years. He wanted to prove to people that having a disability shouldn¡¯t stop you from achieving your goal.
¡±I wanted to show people that if a kid with no legs like me can do it, anyone can do it,¡± he said. ¡°Don¡¯t let anything or anyone push you down.¡±
He said he took many breaks throughout the climb. ¡°My heart was beating a lot, but I knew I was going to make it up the building. I¡¯m so proud of myself,¡± McCarthy said as the crowd cheered for him at the top.
