Could you give up meat and animal products?
이번주 주제는 vegan 입니다.

Veganism is a way of living which excludes, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation and cruelty to animals.
So that's for food, clothing or any other purpose.
So we just don't want to use or abuse animals.
And we feel like there, you know, there are plenty of alternatives in this day and age.
It's never been easier to be vegan.
avoiding cruelty to animals is what it's all about, but that doesn't just mean food.
If you're a true vegan, then clothing from animals is also out - no more leather shoes!
Veganism은 개인들의 다양한 이유로 인하여 동물성 제품의 섭취는 물론, 동물성 원료를 이용하여 만든 제품을 사용을 하지 않는 것을 나타내는 단어입니다.
이 veganism을 이것을 실천하는 사람들을 vegan이라 부릅니다.
단순한 채식주의자들은 육식만을 피하지만, 비건은 유제품,꿀, 계란, 가죽제품, 양모, 오리털 등 동물의 털과 가죽이 사용된 의류와 액세서리류, 동물의 물질이 포함되거나 동물 실험이 이루어진 화장품 및 약품, 사냥, 서커스, 승마, 투우, 동물원 관람 등 동물을 착취하는 취미생활도 반대합니다.
즉 동물 보호주의를 확장해 동물을 희생하는 상품이나 서비스를 일체 이용하지 않는 윤리적 소비에 참여하는 사람들입니다.
적극적인 개념, 또는 엄격한 채식주의자라고 할 수 있습니다.
vegan은 동물과 사람의 관계를 재정립하기 위해 동물 보호 캠페인을 벌이며 소셜네트워크서비스(SNS)를 통해 관련 정보를 활발히 공유하고 있습니다.

ethical reasons
many people go vegan for ethical reasons.
so if you become vegan for ethical reasons, you do it because you think it's wrong to eat or use animal products.
environmental considerations
Others go vegan because of environmental considerations, as we looked at earlier. Rearing livestock – that means animals like cows and pigs – produces a lot of harmful methane gas.
In the research from Oxford University we mentioned earlier, scientists found that 8 million deaths per year could be avoided if the world went vegan.
They claim that half of this figure would be because we no longer eat red meat, and the other half would be due to eating more healthy fruit and vegetables – as well as fewer people being overweight.
And they say that this would have an economic impact too.
They suggest that up to $1,000bn a year would be saved due to reduced healthcare costs and increased productivity at work - because fewer people would get sick
채식에서 제일 문제가 되는 영양소는 protein이겠지요?
그렇지만 vegan들은 vegetable과 fruit에도 충분한 단백질이 있다고 주장합니다.

유럽에서는 비건 전문 식당과 비건제품 판매매장이 점차 늘고 있습니다.
프랑스에서는 비건식품 이외에 비건 생활소비재로는 ‘라마주나’와 ‘굿가이즈’ 브랜드가 널리 알려져 있는데 두 브랜드 모두 동물실험 금지 및 친환경주의를 지향하고 있습니다.
‘라마주나’는 100% 자연성분으로 이루어진 샴푸, 치약, 데오도란트 등 일반 생활용품을 판매하는 브랜드로, 프랑스에서 모든 제품을 생산하고 있고 2014년 11월 이래 매출이 5만 유로이며 약 10개국에 수출하고 있습니다.
‘굿가이즈’는 동물 가죽을 이용하지 않은 신발을 만드는 회사로 파리의 채식주의 스타일리스트인 마리옹 아나니아가 창설했습니다. 현재 프랑스뿐만 아니라 독일, 북미, 일본 등 전 세계 약 50개 매장에서 팔리고 있다고합니다.

meat-eating is an important part of most cultures(not everyone wants to change).
millions of people worldwide raise livestock for a living.
So these jobs would disappear.
Now, with up to a third of the planet estimated to be arid people living in these regions rely on livestock, so people for example like the Berbers in the Sahara region.
Without animal farming they would be forced to abandon traditional nomadic lifestyles – that's where they move from place to place - and settle in cities.
And for many people, well, they just like eating meat and dairy.
