Q1. In page 58, the book says we can use ultrasound to produce imags inside the body.

In an MRI we use Magnetic waves to look inside the body. Explain how this thing would work.

Q2. Look at page 63 and state how the recorded grooves differ at different pitches or loudness of sound

Q3. Do the experiment discribed in 73p. State what you thought after the experiment.

To be answered by 2/17 after reading chap2.4 and 3.1(58~78p).

1. Doctors send ultrasound into our body and then  machines record the waves that are reflected from inside the body. Information from these echoes forms a picture on a screen. The image allow as to find out  if their internal organs are working well or not.

2. The sound waves are made when they hit the grooves. If the grooves are placed more frequently the pitch of the sound will be high. And if the shape and size of the grooves changes, the loudness will change.

3.The electromagnetic wave that the remote control shoots will hit the mirror, and the wave will be reflected by the mirror and hit the TV. If you shoot it at the right angle, the same thing that happen when you shoot it straight at the TV will happen.

1. People send ultrasound waves into our body, which cause reflecting waves that bounce off the inside of the body. After recording them, special devices analyze the information from these reflecting waves, forming an image of the inside of our body. These images enable people to find out if their internal organs are working well.

2. The sound waves are translated into bumps along the record grooves. If the pitch of the sound waves are high, I believe the bumps will occur more frequently, and vice versa. If the sound is loud, the bumps will probably be bigger, and the opposite when the sound is small. Both require the record grooves to change shape according to the sound waves.

3. The remote control had to be just between the mirror and the television, pointing straight. If there had been an imaginary line heading from the tip of the remote control straight on, the line would have passed through both of the objects at the same angle. The remote control emits electromagnetic waves which give signals to the TV to turn it on. Thus, the mirror received the electromagnetic waves coming from the remote control and reflected them to the TV, turning it on.

A1. Um, the ultrasound sends waves into our body and records the waves that are reflected from inside the body. Because of this, it forms a picture of our body, so we can know where our bones located in or are there any bones broken or somethings like that.

A2. As the pitches or the loudness of the sound changes, the recorded grooves chagnes too. Like in the CDs, there are millions of pits on the surface, so that means if there are different pitches, there will be a different sound waves. And if the sound gets louder or lower, the sound waves will change too.

A3. When the angel between the remote control and the mirror, and the angel between the remote control and the television are exactly the same, the television gets turned on. So that means the mirror reflects the eletromagnetic waves, which came from the remote control and hands it over to the television.

1. These Magnetic waves or Ultra sound come back when they hit something that they cannot go through. MRI or some other programs that use those things shoot these sounds or waves generally through the things they want to detect.

2. Each sound has its own character such as loudness, pitches and so on. These recorded groove will detech the difference of each sounds.

3. Remote controls doesn't really have some kind of expensive magneti chips that can find its own TV. Those things have a senser that can detect the TV's receiver. Because the wave that remote control shoots travel through air to find its reciever it also reacts when we shoot at it to the mirror (If it is in the right angle.)

Q1. Ultra sound is a sort of wave that can show something inside. We use the echoes of the ultra sound in many ways. A magnetic wave would send echoes when it bounces about in a body. People can analyse the echoes and look inside the body. That is how an MRI would work.

Q2. If the pitches or loudness of sound changes, the sound waves will change. If the pitches or loudness of sound changes, the distance and the size of the grooves would change, I expect. the grooves will change its shape when the sound waves change.

Q3. In scientific experiments, the mirror is used to reflect rasor points and learn its angle of reflection, and the remote control of a TV set is able to exist because of a type of wave called an electromagnetic wave that can transfer energy through a field. I could turn on the TV by pointing the remote at the mirror and pushing the button. The mirror must have reflected the electromagnetic wave.
