1. Fyodor Pavlovich is not a normal person. He has experienced a variety of things in his life. Many stages of his life were filled with happiness, sorrow, bitterness, and other feelings mixed up together. He also has a drinking problem, and he tends to get off course when he is drunk. I think his past sins and fears plague him sometimes, and he struggles to get his conscience back under control. This is what causes his spiritual terrors and moral torments.

1. I think it is because he feels guilty from his doings. He can't be all bad. There must be a good part inside him somewhere. And he is suffering because he realized a magnitude of his bad deeds.

2. At the first part of the story, the author mentions Alyosha's powers. He says Alyosha made anyone who met him love him sincerely. Fyodor Pavlovich loved Alyosha. And judging by he and Mitya's similarities, I think its love and the feeling that this person didn't abandoned me.

3. Pride is a feeling that you feel when you did something awesome. A little pride does you no harm. Everybody feels pride from time to time. But too much pride can lead to overconfidence. And overconfidence does you much harm. It leads to recklessness, foolishness, and many other things that can be your downfall. In my opinion, pride IS a kin to foolishness.

1.When somebody does evil things and he knows it, his conscience will pay him back. I think that is what is happening to Fydor Pavlovich.

2. Well, Alyosha is an angel. If he promises to keep a secret, he will. And when Mitya will tell something to Ivan, Ivan is not an 'angel' type of person, and I think Ivan will critisize Mitya, which Mitya will not be very comfortable when he talk. But Alyosha is the angelic type who will probably listen, agree, and then say his opinions.

3. Everybody needs pride. If a person has no pride, he will not be confident at anything. But too much pride is an even bigger problem. He'll think he is better than anyone, like Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, which will make others angry.

1. I think that Fyodor Pavolvich feels pain because though he is an evil character, deep inside he has conscience. Fyodor Pavolvich has done a lot of harmful things, and he is one of my least favorite character in the book, like he say he left that place but we don't know he had done bad things to Lizaveta and lots of other things he had done to the poors and treat high persons as he is better than them. But, I think that every each persons have kind part and conscience in them. Also, Fyodor Pavolvich may believe in God, so I think that that's the reason why Fyodor Pavolvich experience a spiritual terror and a moral torment, because of the thought he will get punished and because of the sorry.

2. Alyosha has a great personality and he is a likeable person. Almost everyone loves the person who pay attention to him or her and has a great personality. So I think that that would be the reason why Mitya is so free with Alyosha.

3. I think that pride is a kin to foolishness, because if you think you are better than anybody else, than it can make you to try your best more less. For example, if you think that you are good at studying, than if you feel confident and may think 'Oh, I am good at studying so I don't have to work so hard.' and it will cause you to be a fool. Or you could take that as this. If you think you are better than anybody else, while you are not than you are thinking it wrong so that makes pride is a kin to foolishness and in conculsion, my opinion is that pride can make you embrassed and a fool.
