1. I think Kolya is very self-confident and proud of himself. He can't stand being humilated even a bit, and wants to risk even being in a dangerous situation to prove himself among the schoolboys. The special part about his character is that he gets worked up much more in proving he can be very mischievous even though he is young and intelligent. His self-respect is so strong and he wants others to treat him not from his age and treat him like a child, and he often gets carried away, acting rashly and emotionally.

2. I think meeting someone that they are fond of, or might make a big influence on themselves, is like acting. In those situation, people try hard to give a good impression of themselves to that person, and hide the negative parts of oneself. We sometimes have to tell a white lie, or be careful at anything that we tell that person.

1. I think that Kolya's true nature is being irrational. Most times, he just hides his feelings from other people. But in some cases, he gets worked up and emotional and his true nature just comes back. It may also be because he wants attention. Some people do unpredictable things and are mischievous just because they want others to notice them. This might be the reason for Kolya's mischief and making himself well-known in the town because of this rash actions.
2. I also agree that hiding your true emotions is like acting. In some cases, people have to mask what they really feel and portray another emotion instead for some reason or another. For example, if a group of people prepared a surprise party for a man, but the man wasn't very delighted by the surprise, it would be considered good manners and adequate for the situation to act surprised and happy, even if he really didn't feel that way. Another example is when someone else made a person feel content, but the person refuses to show his appreciation because he or she resents the giver for something he or she did in the past. Like this, there are many situations in life when we have to mask our emotions and fool other people for certain causes.

Q1. The fact that he made him self well known in the town because of his mischeif may be that he is actually irrational, and he doesn't want anybody to know.

Q2. I think that feigning emotions is like acting. Sometimes people have to do something that isn't his or herself. They have to smile when angry, grimace when happy.

A1. Sometime people can all be irrational at times, I think.

A2. Well, I would say that a person telling lies is like an actor. Because, actors have to force people to believe what they act is real, or at least their acting should be realistic. Every person has his or her conscience so if they tell a lie, it appears on their face that they are telling lies. For example, some people turn red and some people may squirm their hands, others may breathe fast when they tell lies. So, it's almost impossible to fool someone if you're telling lies. That's the reason why I think that a person telling lies is like an acor.
