STORYTELLING
T: It¡¯s time for a story.
T: The title of this book is Growing Vegetable Soup.
T: We need a rake, a shovel, and a hoe.
[A rake is used for making a garden smooth. A shovel is used for digging soil. A hoe is used for breaking up soil or removing the planting.]
We are planting the seeds: This is the garden. This is the seed package, soil, and the hole. This is the green bean seed, the pea seed, the corn seed, the zucchini squash seed, and the carrot seeds. [The seeds are all well sowed.]
And all the sprouts: Let¡¯s turn the page. This is the tomato sprout, the broccoli sprout, potato eyes, set onions, the pepper sprout, and the cabbage sprout. We are planting sprouts. Plant the sprouts in the each hole too.
And giving them water and waiting for warm sun o make them grow: Plants need water, sunshine and nourishment. They help the vegetables to grow.
And grow: These are the plants that grew from the seedlings
And grow into plants: They are the flowers that blossomed from the buds.
We watch over them and weed,: In this time, you need to pull out weeds.
Until the vegetable are ready for us to pick or dig up: Here are the vegetables. This is a tomato, a pepper, a corn, a carrot, and a potato.
